Support Groups
Support groups reach out to all kinds of people with all kinds of needs.
(*All meetings are held at the Oshkosh Seniors Center south building unless noted.)

  • Chronic Obstructed Pulmonary Disease Support Group (C.O.P.D.)
    Meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.

    C.O.P.D. is a lung disease in which the lungs are damaged, making it hard to breathe. The airways, or the tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs are partly obstructed, making it difficult to get air in and out.

    This support group is for persons suffering with diseases such as lung disease, chronic bronchitis, and
    chronic emphysema.

  • Visually Impaired Persons Group (VIP)
    Meets the first Tuesday of every month from 10:00 -11:30 a.m.

    People in attendance have varying degrees of vision loss with differing diagnoses.

    Meeting formats include open discussions, informational speakers, and socializing.

    A summer picnic and a holiday party are part of the year’s schedule.

    If you or someone you know are experiencing vision loss, this group can help you cope and increase your optimism and confidence.

  • The Oshkosh Parkinson’s Support Group
    Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.

    Assists individual and their families through educational programs and opportunities for sharing strategies for living and coping with Parkinson’s Disease.

  • Weight Management Support Group
    Meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at 1 p.m.

    Weight loss and Americans; the two go together like apple pie and ice cream.

    You may need to lose weight but not know how to go about it. Or, you have lost weight before only to gain it back. This weight management support group will show you how you canmake lifestyle changes that will result in a healthy body and healthy lifestyle.

    You'll learn how losing weight will reduce your risk for disease, how increasing your activity can affect your weight management efforts and about behaviors that lead to weight management success. There are tips for eating, shopping and increasing your activity level. Everyone is welcome.
